Roxanne helps county outfit bag top-four finish

HUMBERSTON showjumper Roxanne Hennebery was part of a Lincolnshire team that came fourth in a national competition at Weston Lawns.

It was the first time the 23-year-old has been selected to represent her county and comes ahead of her debut appearance at top British showjumping festival Scope at the end of the month.

Hennebery represented area 24 at Weston Lawns in the national team competitions alongside Harriet Spencer, Amy Duncan and Anna Strawson.

Hennebery and her horse Brighton Boy have only been performing in the discipline for four months. She said: "I really enjoyed it and Brighton Boy really enjoyed it too.

"There were a few spooky fillers that he had not seen before, but he flew without much hesitation.
"The other members of the team did amazing. Brighton Boy did have a miss-footing at one fence and I was close to going over his head but luckily we regained ourselves to carry on.
"It was very busy with a lot going on, and we loved every minute of it."

A second Lincolnshire team, Sara Raw, Amelia Bowring, Katie Castle and Sam Staples missed out.
Area 24 representative Joanne Burns said: "All the ladies jumped amazing around the up-to-size courses and Roxanne, Harriet, Amy and Anna finished a creditable fourth out of the 14 teams, while the others just missed out.

"Everyone worked well together and looked very smart in the area colours; there was a definite team spirit and I think it would be nice to see more team opportunities other than us always jumping as individuals."
